Showcase Concert at the Winspear Opera House
January 25, 2025 at 7:00pm

Four superb rising conductors will take the podium to lead The Dallas Opera Orchestra and a host of incredible singers in the Winspear Opera House for a one-night-only Showcase Concert of thrilling operatic selections. Pictured from top to bottom, this year’s participants include Jiannan Cheng (China), Valery Saul (USA), Anna Castro Grinstein (Spain/Argentina), and CJ Wu (Taiwan).

Each conductor will lead The Dallas Opera Orchestra in several pieces from one opera, sung by some of Indiana University’s top singers. The conductor and orchestra will be projected onto a large screen on stage providing a unique view of the performers and conducting style.

Launched in 2015, the Hart Institute is the only program of its kind in the world and seeks to address the extreme gender imbalance of leadership on the podium. Since its inception, more than 500 women conductors from 40 nations have applied to be trained, advised, and supported by this extraordinary initiative.

This concert is the grand finale of an intensive two-week residency, which includes working with some of today’s most renowned industry leaders.
